"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19) Catching a vision can be like catching a cold. It's contagious. It can be spread around, even when you think you've scrubbed it all off and officially cured yourself of it. All it takes is being in proximity of someone else who has it to catch it all over again. But the difference between catching a vision and spreading germs is that this vision comes from our Designer. It has not the hint and feel of the Fall, but the refreshing reminder of the pure love that comes from our Designer. This past weekend, my organization held its annual Jubilee conference. For three days, students and professionals gathered alike to teach and hear about the biblical narrative. About Creation. The Fall. About the generous and grace-filled gift of Redemption. And about the hope of the coming Restoration, which we have begun to see glimpses of in the here and now. No matter how many times I hear the story, it never seems to get old. And when I get to hear people talk about it in the way that it has brought meaning to their lives, it brings about an even greater joy. Because everything matters to God. Every conversation, every desire, every sport, every dream, every emotion, every vocation, every mistake, every promise, every word...everything. This should be contagious! What a beautiful reminder that God has it all and that he is weaving it together for his glory and his purposes. All of life is important. No matter the stage I am at in life, whether attending the conference as a student or now being there as staff, I am still learning. The story is the same, but I am hearing it new and fresh each time. The vision of what it means to be a part of this story is being spread differently throughout my heart, like different symptoms of a cold. And each time I come and hear it differently, I feel as though God is working on restoring yet another piece of my identity in him, inviting me into more and more of who I am designed to be. If I hope for anything, it is that this vision would spread like wildfire and that the Designer would make ways in the wilderness for his people to know him in his fullness.
